It comes from work and holidays \u2013 a kind of working vacation that allows labor remotely and <strong>in a relaxed mode<\/strong>. Imagine creating code while sitting in a lounger on the beach or sending emails while sunbathing.<\/p>\n<p>Does it really work? It is fair to say that the workplace is a model of work, not rest. Delving into the history of the workation trend, European corporations started implementing it as early as 2012. Then, it was a team-building format when employees traveled to another town or country for several days.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the trip is to change the environment, reset, make friends, and work a little. It allows pumping up <strong>motivation<\/strong> and <strong>tuning in for in-depth work<\/strong>. It can also be a trip for the season.<\/li>\n<li>Long-term workation means a complete <strong>change of residence for several months<\/strong> or years. As a result, workation will positively affect work capacity. But this is only true if you prepare.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here are some tips to get the most out of your workation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Choose a destination with <strong>loyal legislation<\/strong> for digital nomads. Be sure to learn the specifics of taxation to work legally and stress-free.<\/li>\n<li>Study<strong> the financial issue<\/strong> in detail. How much of your income will meet basic expenses to feel comfortable? Look for the accommodation options \u2013 their cost should not exceed 50% of the planned budget.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure a stable connection and <strong>access to the Internet<\/strong> at your place, as the trip still involves working.<\/li>\n<li>Pack your stuff, including the necessary equipment. Take only the <strong>essential things and cash<\/strong> \u2013 of course, in the local currency. Also, prepare non-cash payment options for better security.<\/li>\n<li>Learn about the destination country: cuisine, traditions, mental traits, holidays, and weather. The less improvisation, the more confident you feel. One more critical nuance: <strong>check how your work schedule matches<\/strong> your new time zone.<\/li>\n<li>Using social media, <strong>find a local ex-pat community<\/strong> or professional group where you can make acquaintances and get answers. Feeling isolated is one of the pitfalls of workation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And last but not least: enjoy the journey and new place, and build your schedule to maintain the needed workation balance.
