This is a hands-on role where you will assess the current landscape, recommend improvements, and implement changes that improve performance, reliability, and reporting capabilities.<\/p>\n<h3>A new team member will be in charge of:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Designing and standing up a reporting\/analytics data warehouse (preferably on Azure) to support business intelligence and analytical workloads.<\/li>\n<li>Defining dimensional and\/or analytical schemas that enable reliable reporting and scalable querying.<\/li>\n<li>Building and maintaining data pipelines to move and transform data from source systems into the warehouse (e.g., using Azure Data Factory \/ Synapse or similar).<\/li>\n<li>Auditing and improving indexing strategy for Azure SQL \/ SQL Server to ensure consistent performance at scale.<\/li>\n<li>Optimizing queries through execution plan analysis, refactoring, and targeted tuning.<\/li>\n<li>Designing and implementing caching strategies where appropriate to reduce load and improve response times.<\/li>\n<li>Applying partitioning and sharding approaches when needed to support growth and throughput.<\/li>\n<li>Improving schema design for performance, maintainability, and long-term evolution of the product.<\/li>\n<li>Designing and optimizing complex indexed views and other advanced SQL Server features.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborating with a technical team by clearly communicating findings, trade-offs, and implementation plans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Does this relate to you?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>5+ years of commercial experience in database engineering, data warehousing, or a similar role.<\/li>\n<li>Strong SQL Server \/ Azure SQL expertise, including performance tuning, schema design, and execution plan analysis.<\/li>\n<li>Hands-on experience with Azure data services such as Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or equivalent tools.<\/li>\n<li>Proven experience designing and building data warehouses and analytics-ready data models.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently end-to-end: assessing current state, making recommendations, and executing implementations.<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings and recommendations to a technical audience.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with SaaS transactional databases at scale is a plus.<\/li>\n<li>Azure AI Search experience (implementing or designing search solutions) is strongly preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with vector databases, especially for AI\/ML workloads, is a plus.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting search and AI-driven use cases by contributing to Azure AI Search design\/implementation (preferred) and exploring vector database approaches (a plus).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are looking for a Senior Database Engineer to help strengthen our platform by tackling two high-impact areas: building a scalable analytics data foundation and optimizing our production transactional database.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"template":"","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false},"class_list":["post-14965","awsm_job_openings","type-awsm_job_openings","status-publish","hentry","job-category-senior","job-category-lead","job-type-remote","job-type-part-time","job-location-ukraine","job-location-poland","job-location-cyprus","categories-engineering"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.12 -
